Art & What’s On
The Bearded Tit is a creative clubhouse committed to providing a space for art exhibitions, live gigs, parties and performances. We aim to showcase those in the queer and creative community and to create a safer space where we can all celebrate.
Our exhibitions respond to critical and socio-political issues through art, discourse, and connection. Our priorities remain consistent; to deliver a program that inspires and empowers, to develop and profile creatives from queer and underrepresented communities, and to be open and responsive to community needs. Right now, the world needs creative expression and connection more than ever.
In 2023, we’re disrupting our transmission with 4 new curators. Check our Instagram and Facebook pages for the latest events and exhibition details.
CURRENT EXHIBITION
There is a belief that when you are born into a new body and mind, you are granted certain promises. A word for them is ‘barakat’ or ‘angel currencies’. As you move through the world, these promises are exchanged and multiplied. They birth new desires and they call in other realms. In this exhibition, the artists enact this interchange. They invoke cords tethered to others as forms of knowledge, in all directions of time and space.
Our second exhibition of the year is curated by Justine Youssef. This show is a continuation of her show in 2023 and allows the artists from that show to develop their practises and continue working together. The artists feature in this year’s show are:
Abrir
Céline Skaf
Ma’ata Halaifonua-Palu and Benjamin Akuila
Skye Bakhos
Wassila Abboud
Opening night drinks on Tuesday 26th March 6pm with thanks from Grifter Brewing Company.
This exhibition runs until 7th June 2024.
All exhibitions at The Bearded Tit are supported by Create NSW and Unfunded Empathy.
